Evolve Ring Silver ~ Silver Rings Inspired by Darwin’s Theory of Evolution

December 9, 2009

Evolve Ring Silver brings Darwin’s Model of Evolution to the design world. Michal Piasecki and Krystian Kwiecinski ingeniously applied the survival-of-the-fittest principle breeding a unique shape for a silver ring with rather than designing it…

  • Fluid Forms launches the Evolve Ring Silver, a unique silver ring that brings the evolution to the design world not as a metaphor, but as a design tool.
  • Michal Piasecki and Krystian Kwieciński used artificial selection in genetic algorithms to unleash a population of ring designs. From this first generation Michal and Krystian selected the most appealing individuals, which passed on attributes to the next generation. Iterating this evolutionary process with parametric modelling techniques they guided the ring’s evolution step-by-step towards the silver ring’s final shape. Thus Darwinean “Survival-of-the-Fittest” in nature becomes “Survival-of-the-Most-Aesthetic” in jewelry design.
  • Michal Piasecki and Krystian Kwiecinski are the first two featured designers on Fluid Forms
  • Amplifying product diversity and inviting more designers to create and sell unique products on www.fluid-forms.com, Fluid Forms becomes a platform for contemporary generative/parametric design harnessing the power of digital fabrication methods like 3d-printing, laser cutting, photo etching and cnc-milling
